NATIONAL ACADEMY OF MEDICAL SCIENCES CELL OF SGPGIMS

The NAMS Cell of SGPGIMS was inaugurated on 7 Mar 2026 at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow by Prof. Rajendra Prasad, FAMS, Padam Shri ,Chairman, NAMS UP State and Prof. RK Dhiman, FAMS, Director, SGPGIMS and Patron-NAMS Cell of SGPGIMS, Prof. Shaleen Kumar, Dean, Prof. Sanjay Dhiraj, HOD, Anaesthesiology, Col. Varun Bajpai, Executive Registrar, Prof. Sandeep Sahu, FAMS, Nodal officer of NAMS Cell of SGPGIMS and Dr Divya Srivastava and Dr Surendra Singh, Member of NAMS Cell. The Inaugural CME was conducted by above faculty members that includes the Introduction of NAMS and its functioning. A inaugural lecture on Clinical interpretation of Chest X-rays was delivered by Prof. Rajendra Prasad, Padam Shri, Chairman, NAMS UP State.

Prof RK Dhiman, Director, SGPGIMS told that SGPGIMS Mandates (Patient care, teaching and Research) are very similar to NAMS India core concepts. SGPGIMS will go together with NAMS India to develop various program already established by NAMS India to enhances its activities all over UP. NAMS Cell of SGPGIMS under leadership of Prof. Sandeep Sahu and team will work for leadership development for faculty and medical students that will promote teaching, training and research all over UP.

National Academy of Medical Sciences, NAMS (India) is a unique institution which fosters and utilizes academic excellence as its resource to meet medical and social goals. It was registered on 21st April, 1961 and was inaugurated at New Delhi on 19th December 1961 by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India.
