About Facility
Biomedical research outcomes are continuously improving the quality of human and animal life. In institute Research Cell is the central place promoting & managing research activities. As part of pre-clinical studies in-vivoresearch on laboratory animals are performed after registration with and supervision of CPCSEA (Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals), Govt. of India.
Animal House Facility and Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC) of SGPGIMS, Lucknow is registered with CPCSEA, Govt. of India.Animal House facility supports Laboratory Animal Experimentation following CPCSEA guidelines and approvals of IAEC/CPCSEA. Animal House facility is a single storied building situated in noise free area of institute. Building has all standard infrastructural facilities required for good animal house. Conventional animal husbandry is in practice for animal breeding and research. Researchers are regularly involved in metabolic, behavioral, surgical and non-surgical animal disease studies.

Registration of Animal House Facility with CPCSEA
The animal house facility is registered withCPCSEA,Registration No. 57/GO/Re/SL/Bi/S/99Activities
Animal HusbandryAnimal House facility is taking care of daily requirements of animal feeding & water, cleaning and disinfection of facility and animal utilities with high standards of personnel hygiene and sanitation.
Animal BreedingAnimal House facility is registered for in-house breeding of small laboratory animals. Accordingly breeding colonies are maintained for breeding and in-house usage of animals.
Animal Care &Health Monitoring Regular observation and periodic health monitoring is ensuring maintenance of good quality animals.
Teaching & Training As per Institute'mandate the teaching & training are conducted at Animal House. Theoretical understanding of Laboratory Animal Science and hands on training on different aspects helps for good animal research.
Institutional Animal Ethics CommitteeIAEC ensures the ethical animal research with regular review and suggestions. Animal research work starts only after approval of IAEC/CPCSEA.
