Honors & Awards

The Department of Neonatology takes pride in the academic achievements and recognition received by its faculty, residents, and staff at state, national, and international levels.

  • Girish GuptaProf. Girish Gupta, former Head of Department of Neonatology, SGPGIMS, was conferred the Vishisht Seva Medal and the Nausena Medal in recognition of his distinguished service and exceptional contributions to the nation and to the field of neonatal medicine.
  • Astha Panghal, Senior Resident PDCC, was awarded theGold Medal for Best Paper at the State Level Conference of Paediatrics in November 2018 for her work titled "Quality Improvement Study in Reducing Peripheral Intravenous Infiltration."

She was further honoured with the Gold Medal for Best Innovation in Neonatology at the National Conference of Neonatology in December 2019 for her presentation on "An Innovative Cricothyroidotomy Simulator."

  • Akanksha, then Senior resident PDCC, received theGold Medal for Best Award Paper at the State Level Conference of Neonatology in October 2019 for her study titled "Exchange Transfusion in Cases of Severe Sepsis: A Comparative Study."

She was subsequently honoured with the Best Research Paper Award in the Clinical Vignette Category (Associate Professor) at the SGPGIMS Research Day Celebration in December 2025. At the same event, she also received the Best Original Research Award (Medical Category).

  • Abhijeet Roy, SR DM, received theBest Poster Award at the State Level Conference of Neonatology in October 2020 for his presentation on "Challenges in the Management of Hepatic Haemangioma."
  • Manish Diwedi, SR PDCC was awarded theBest Poster Award at the National Conference on Kangaroo Mother Care held in Jaipur in February 2020 for his work titled "An Observational Study to Find the Published Literature and Apps on Kangaroo Mother Care."
  • Gaurav Gautam, SR PDCC won theFirst Prize in Poster Presentation at KMC-CON 2023.
  • Sushil Kumar, SR DM, was awarded theThird Prize in the Prof. Meharban Singh Best Research Paper Award at IAP Neocon 2023. He subsequently received the Best Research Paper Award in the Clinical Vignette Category (Assistant Professor) at the SGPGIMS Research Day Celebration 2024.
  • Preeti Singh Solanki, SR DM, won theFirst Prize in the Prof. R.S. Dayal Award Paper for Neonatology at UP Pedicon 2024.
  • Kirti M. Naranje, Professor and Head, was awarded theNNF Presidential Appreciation Award for her contributions to the SONIC Committee of the National Neonatology Forum in 2025. She also received the Presidential Special Appreciation Award for her contribution to the Diagnostic Infectious Disease Approach (DAID) module at UP Pedicon, Gorakhpur, in November 2025. In recognition of the scientific merit of the department's original research — "Wrist vs Ear Pulse Oximetry for Neonates During Resuscitation: A Randomised Controlled Trial" — she was awarded a competitive international travel grant to present this work at the Emerging Neonatal Resuscitation Science Research Colloquium, Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, USA, in September 2025.
  • Anita Singh, Professor, received theNNF Presidential Appreciation Award for her contributions to both the Website Committee and the SONIC Committee of the National Neonatology Forum in 2025.
  • Arohi Gupta, SR DM, had a remarkable year of recognition in 2025, receiving theProf. Armida Fernandez Best Poster Award at IAP NEOCON 2025, the Best Original Research Award (Medical Category) at the SGPGIMS Research Day Celebration 2025, and the Runner-up Award in the Award Paper Category at UP NEOCON 2025. She and Dr. Anbarsan also secured the Runner-up Position in the Neonatology Quiz at IAP NEOCON 2025.
  • R.K. Shwetabh, SR DM was awarded theBest Research Paper Award in the Clinical Vignette Category (Student) at the SGPGIMS Research Day Celebration in December 2025.
  • Nursing Officers Shikha and Sunil brought distinction to the department by winning theDivisional Round of the NNF Nursing Quiz held at KGMU, Lucknow, in September 2025.
