Director's Message
Dear Friends
It is a matter of great pride and honour for me writing this message on the
occasion of the 26th Convocation Day of Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate
Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow, my alma mater. Never
did I imagine in my wildest dream that one day I would be writing this
message as the Director of this prestigious Institute. First and foremost, I
thank the Honorable Madam Governor, Anandiben Patel at bestowing me
with this most honorous task of leading this Institute.
The Global Pandemic of COVID-19 has troubled each and every country and
nd
our nation has been no different. The Institute has valiantly faced the 2
COVID wave with the shear grit and steely determination of its faculty,
residents, nurses, hospital attendants, sanitation workers, security personal,
engineering section and administrative staff of SGPGIMS. The experience
gained while planning, creating, managing, and successfully running
Rajdhani Corona Hospital (RCH), the Apex Hospital for COVID-Care at
st
SGPGIMS, during the 1 wave in Uttar Pradesh has tremendously helped us
nd
in the 2 wave. I thank the entire staff of the Institute for their contribution.
The introduction and implementation of COVID-Vaccination in the State
and at SGPGIMS has helped bring down the infection as well as the severity
and mortality of COVID.
Despite the COVID, the Institute is now all set to achieve greater heights of
excellence in clinical, academic and research areas. The upcoming Emergency
and Renal Transplant Center, Advanced Diabetic Center, Department of
Hepatology, Pediatric Endocrinology Unit, and Center of Excellence for
Infectious Disease & Vaccine Development and Solid Organ Transplantation
(liver, heart and lung) will be some of the important areas of our focused
attention. Tele-ICU-services based on HUB & SPOKE model from
SGPGIMS will usher in the new era of Tele-Heath for critically ill patients
closer to their homes for the most populous state of Uttar Pradesh.
The enormous potential of this Institute has shown its metal in 2021, and I am
sure much more can be achieved in years to come. I wish you all the very best for
this year and any future endeavors you desire to undertake for the
improvement in health services in SGPGIMS and the state. I am sure that the
Institute will definitely achieve its goals with the support from all
stakeholders.
