Brief academic background:

I am currently working as an Associate Professor (Basic Sciences) in the Department of Urology and Renal Transplantation. I did graduation (B.Sc) in biological sciences and a post-graduation (M.Sc.) in Biotechnology from DeenDayalUpadhaya Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur. I earned a Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Biotechnology from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi in 2012. In doctoral work, under the guidance my mentor Prof. Madhu G. Tapadia, I contributed to decipher the role of ecdysone signaling in renal tubule development and function by using the genetically tractable model organism Drosophila melanogaster. After that, I worked for a short period of time as a pre-doctoral fellow at Piramal Life Sciences, Mumbai where my group was involved in the development of assays for the identification of potential therapeutic molecules for diabetes and cancer. Followed by I received a national post-doctoral fellowship (DBT-Research Associate) and joined the Molecular and Human Genetics (MHG) Laboratory, Department of Zoology, University of Lucknow, Lucknow. Further, I received another national DS Kothari post-doctoral fellowship and continued work at the same place. Working at MHG lab, I have established an animal research facility and studied the association of genetic variants in diabetes and diabetic nephropathy patients. In 2015, I received a prestigious INSPIRE faculty award (a program of the government of India to prevent brain drain)  from the Department of Science Technology (DST), New Delhi, and moved to the Embryotoxicology lab, CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (CSIR-IITR), Lucknow where I have established alternate animal model (Drosophila melanogaster) for renal toxicity and diabetic nephropathy. In 2019, I joined as an Assistant Professor (Basic Sciences) in the Department of Urology and Renal Transplantation, Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow, and started working in different aspects of urological diseases. Working at the same place, I promoted as Associate Professor in 2022.
