Research/Project Achievements

Research Interest:Environmental chemical mediated renal toxicity, Uro-oncology, nephrolithiasis, Diabetic complications, Animal modeling for urological diseases

My research work is focused in the area of urological diseases (renal cell carcinoma, kidney stone, and prostate cancer), environmental chemical mediated renal toxicity, diabetes-mediated renal diseases, etc. we are using molecular biology, molecular genetics, cell biology, and biochemical approaches to reveal the biological mysteries. We use the genetically tractable alternate animal model Drosophila for modeling various human diseases. Currently, we are involved in deciphering the molecular basis of chemical-mediated kidney failure, diabetic nephropathy, and kidney stone. We are also involved in the identification of prognostic as well as diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutics molecules for clear cell renal cell carcinoma and prostate cancer.

8. Teaching and Mentoring activities  (in SGPGIMS) :

Teaching:I am actively involved in teaching Master (M.Sc and Ph.D. students. I am taking classes for master students of medical biotechnology and have also given my name as teaching faculty in Dept. of Molecular Medicine for upcoming master courses in the department. Apart from this, I have designed 1 credit course “Model system for Biomedical Research” for the coursework of Ph.D,/MD/MCh students.

Currently 3 Ph.D. students are working under my supervision in different research area (Renal cell carcinoma, renal toxicity, prostate cancer, diabetic nephropathy). Recently, a student for the post of research assistant has been recruited to work on nephrolithiasis. However, one position of JRF/PA has been advertised for the recruitment of the candidate.
