  • Outpatient Services

    • The department’s OPD services with all faculties and residents are available on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday for new, referred and follow up patients. More than 20,000 patients receive OPD services every year. Old patients are seen only on prior appointment basis.

    The department is running dedicated Clinic for interstitial lung disease on Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 to 5:00 pm with prior appointment>/p>

    Dedicated lung cancer clinic is scheduled to start from 1st January 2016 on Monday 9:00 to 12: 00 am

  • Inpatient Services

    • The department has pulmonary wards with 12 general beds, 2 private rooms and 2 isolation room well equipped to provide basic medical care. The department has well equipped 10 respiratory ICU beds to provide advanced medical care with dedicated strength of residents, nursing and paramedical staff. A fully equipped 11 bed ICU exclusively for Swine Flu patients is also bein run by the department.

  • Laboratory services

    • A well-equipped pulmonary function testing unit with basic spirometry, lung volumes and resistance and lung diffusion facility is currently available. A cardio-pulmonary exercise testing for various cardiac and respiratory diseases will be functional soon. More than 400 PFT is being performed monthly in the PFT lab with an aim to provide same day service.

  • Interventional pulmonology services

    • Department is one of the leading centers for interventional pulmonology services providing basic diagnostic and therapeutic video-bronchoscopy right from the inception of the department.Advanced interventional services provided by the department are:

    Basic bronchoscopy More than 50 per month of diagnostic and minimal therapeutic bronchoscopic services are the backbone of interventional services. Basic screening for interventions is also actively pursued.

    Medical thoracoscopy Semi-rigid and rigid thoracoscopic services are used for diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for patients suffering from pleural diseases like pleural effusion, pneumothorax, hemothorax etc.

    a)Rigid bronchoscopy: Committed service for diagnostic and therapeutic intervention in patients with central airway obstruction, massive hemoptysis, tracheo-esophageal fistula and lung cancer .

    b)Tracheo-bronchial stenting Stenting facilities (metallic and silicon stents) under general anaesthesiaare provided for various benign and malignant disorders of the tracheo-bronchial tree in a dedicated operation theater every Thursday.

    c)Endobronchial Ultrasound Services for rapid sampling of mediastinal lymph nodes under direct ultra-sonographic visionalong with radial EBUS for peripheral nodules are routinely performed. Recently, high end in-house microscopy was started to aid the diagnostic yield of the EBUS.

    d)Airway intervention Other airway interventional services like argon plasma coagulation, electrocautery, cryotherapy and laser therapy are actively provided to the patients especially to the patients with malignancy.

    e)Virtual bronchoscopy Real time guidance of superimposed & reconstructed target to accurately negotiate the airway to the peripheral lesion is recently introduced in the department.

    f)Bronchial thermoplasty Probe guided treatment for severe persistent asthma has greatly improvised the interventional services of the department.

  • Sleep laboratory services

    • Department is successfully performing state of the art polysomnography for patients with snoring, sleep apneas and obesity hypoventilation syndrome. Both diagnostic and therapeutic titration of the non-invasive ventilation is provided.
