About Department (TMDH)

India’s oldest Telemedicine Programme at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) founded 22nd Years back with an objective to facilitate patient care, education & training and research using Telemedicine & Digital Health technology & tools for serving the state and country at large.

All faculty members of the institute have contributed immensely to take it to new heights. It has now emerged as Dept. of Telemedicine & Digital Health (TMDH) with stand alone four storied building dedicated to digital health.

It is the first Department dedicated to Telemedicine & Digital Health in any public sector institute of india.

To leverage digital technologies to provide preventive and reactive healthcare, ensuring equitable access to high-quality health services for all individuals, regardless of their geographical location or economic status.

Mission TMDH Mission

1. Enhance Preventive Care: Implement digital tools such as to promote preventive care. Empower individuals to take proactive steps in managing their health, thereby reducing the incidence of chronic diseases and admissions to hospital.

2.Improve Reactive Care: Utilize telemedicine, remote patient monitoring, and digital diagnostics to provide timely and effective reactive care. Ensure that patients receive the necessary medical attention swiftly, regardless of their location.

3. Foster Health Equity: Develop and deploy digital health solutions tailored to the needs of underserved populations. Work towards minimizing disparities in healthcare access and outcomes by promoting use of high-quality affordable care.

4. Promote Research and Innovation Establish the department as a hub for research and innovation in digital health. Collaborate with technology companies, research institutions, and healthcare providers to develop and implement cutting-edge health technologies.

5. Educate and Empower: Provide education and training to healthcare professionals, patients, and the community on the effective use of digital health tools. Empower individuals with knowledge and resources to manage their health better.
