Rajendra Chaudhary is Professor and Head of the Department of Transfusion Medicine at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Lucknow. He completed his medical education from Government Medical College, Nagpur and subsequently received post graduate training in Transfusion Medicine at SGPGI, Lucknow. Later, he was trained in Stem Cell Transplantation at Nagoya University Hospital, Japan & Chaim Sheba Medical Centre, Tel Aviv, Israel. He also received training in Platelet Serology & Thrombophilia at Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney, Australia, Hemostasis Unit, University of Geneva, Switzerland and Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA.

His academic interests include immunohematology, platelet serology and clinical transfusion medicine. In recognition of his work, he was elected as fellow of Royal College of Pathologists (UK) and a member of National Academy of Medical Sciences. He is currently the Chairman of the Technical Resource Group, DGHS, Government of India and a coordinator of the Post Graduate Board for Transfusion Medicine, National Board of Examinations.

He is the recipient of several awards including JR Jolly Award of the Indian Society of Blood

Transfusion and Immunohematology (ISBTI) for research work of high standards and Life Time Achievement Award from the ISBTI in 2022. He has served as Secretary of Indian Society of Transfusion Medicine.
