About Department

The Department of Radiodiagnosis has state-of Art facilities to provide a range of diagnostic and image-guided therapies, spanning all modalities from X-ray based services to Ultrasound, Color-Doppler, Real-time Elastography, Mammography & Digital Breast Tomosynthesis, CT, MRI, DSA and Interventional labs to meet all clinical situations. The equipments are installed in F-block, PMSSY and OPD block with portable units to facilitate the provision of 24x7 services.

A 3 Tesla MR Scanner provides high resolution Brain, Spine and Body Imaging. In addition to routine MR examinations, Cardiac MRI, Breast MRI, Prostate MRI, Functional imaging of brain and abdomen, Non contrast and contrast angiography for renal and peripheral vasculature services are also available.

Three multislice-multidetector CT scanners (one 64-slice and two 128 slice ) offer CT imaging for all clinical indications pertaining to Head , Neck, Chest, Abdomen and pelvis including multi-phase CT angiography, Coronary artery angiography, CT angiography of Renal donors, CT Urography, CT enteroclysis , CT cisternography and CT guided biopsies.

Ultrasound facility has a high end state-of-Art Supersonic Ultrasound Machine, with real-time Shear-wave Elastography functions in all probes, enabling elasticity measurements of Liver, Breast, transplant kidneys, thyroid as well as skin. In addition other High Definition Ultrasound machines are also available on which a wide range of imaging studies are performed including Doppler examinations of abdomen and extremities. Ultrasound guided FNAC and biopsies are performed with availability of onsite pathologist.

Full field Digital Mammography unit with Digital tomosynthesis provides diagnostic imaging and has stereotactic biopsy facility as well.

In Gastrointestinal Radiology field, studies being done include Barium swallow, Upper gastrointestinal studies, Small bowel follow through, Barium enemas, Double contrast Barium techniques, Defecography, Sialography, Hydrostatic reduction of intussusceptions and fluoroscopic placement of nasojejunal tubes etc.

Genitourinary Radiology provides facilities for Intravenous urography, Micturating cystourethrogram, Reterograde urotherography, Antegrade nephrostogram & Hystero salpingography.

Two Digital Subtraction angiography labs (one biplane and other single plane) & Interventional Radiology provide all kinds of diagnostic and vascular and non-vascular interventional services, but are not limited to:

  • Drainage of collections, biliary & hepatic interventions, Interventional therapy for Budd-Chiari syndrome, RF ablation of tumors, G.I. bleed localization and embolization
  • Peripheral vascular and aorto-iliac interventions including EVAR & TEVAR
  • Bronchial artery embolization
  • Percutaneous nephrostomy, Ureteral stenting,Renal biopsy, Renal bleed localization & embolization, Renal tumour embolization, Uterine artery embolization, Varicocele embolization, Renal artery stenting. Dialysis access evaluation and intervention
  • Cerebral/carotid/spinal angiography, Embolization of cerebral/spinal tumors and AVM’s, Coiling of intracranial aneurysms, stenting, Intra-arterial thrombolysis, Vertebroplasty.
  • Entire range of x-ray examinations including digital radiography is available. Mobile X-ray units provide bedside X-rays services for the serious patients in various wards and OT/ICU/Post OP/CCM areas. All radiography equipments are supported by CR processing units and day light film printing. Emergency radiography, ultrasound, CT scan, interventional and DSA services are available round the clock.
