MOINAK SEN SARMA

Dr. Moinak Sen Sarma is an associate professor in the Dept of Pediatric Gastroenterology andhas been serving as faculty in Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow from 2017. His areas of interest are complications of cirrhosis, portal hypertension, pediatric endoscopic ultrasonography and celiac disease. His present research thrusts include Wilson disease, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth and extrahepatic portal hypertension. He has 88 indexed publications in peer reviewed journals. Some of his notable work has been Safety, Complications and Outcome of Large Volume Paracentesis with or without Albumin Therapy in Children with Severe Ascites due to Liver Disease. He has received received several scientific awards including Young Investigator Award from the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of Liver (APASL) and European Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN). He is also the recipient of the Liver Grant Foundation award, SR-Naik award and Om Prakash Award from the Indian Society of Gastroenterology. He has received the Prof SS Agarwal Award, RK Sharma award and Best Research Day awards for two consecutive years from the institute. Presently he is working on multiple projects with extramural and intramural grants. He has contributed to book chapters in various gastroenterology and pediatric textbooks (including Nelson's Pediatrics). He is an Associate Fellow of National Academy of Medical Sciences (AF-NAMS). He is on the editorial board of many international and national journals.
