About Department

We, the Pediatric Surgery team at SGPGIMS, believe in taking up challenges and strive to deliver our best in terms of knowledge, skill & infrastructural support.

The department has a rich clinical experience with all subspecialties of Pediatric Surgery namely: Hepatobiliary & Gastrointestinal Surgery, Oncosurgery, Urology, Thoracic surgery, Neurosurgery, Neonatal surgery and Pediatric Endoscopic surgery.

Our biggest strength has been our clinical & academic experience with a challenging spectrum of Paediatric Biliary, Liver, Pancreatic, Luminal Gastrointestinal Surgery & Surgery for Gastrointestinal bleed. We are a high volume national referral center for the same.

We value children as the biggest asset of the society-being instrumental in their healing is our privilege and our humble service to mankind.

Our endeavor is to treat every “unwell” baby with a meticulously planned, carefully monitored, evidence based management protocol. The emphasis is on personalized compassionate care from the entire team & on continued support & long term follows up to optimize quality of life. To improve patient outcomes, other domains of emphasis are: “patient safety”, nursing education, clinical nutrition and strong interdisciplinary coordination with allied specialties.

Every trainee is nurtured professionally & valued as a member of the team & departmental family-to watch them “carry the torch forward” is our deepest joy & pride. We strive to grow in the learning process everyday so that we can serve our patients better.
