Research Interest
My research group broad area of research involves membrane remodeling during membrane-fusion with potential translational interventions in health and disease. Our group is presently working on membrane-fusion involved during many key biological processes like virus-infection and in development. In context to research focusing virus-pathogenesis our group current research work is focused to understand SARS-CoV-2 mediated membrane-remodeling process during infection and spread. Understanding generated from such virus-host cell interaction study will help us to fulfill our long term goal to develop broadspectrum antivirals therapeutics. In context to cellular-shaping during cell-fusion in development, we are working at the interface of development and membrane biology to understand membrane-remodeling during human placenta development and in identifying novel biomarkers for early detection of maternal disease with placental disorder and in high-risk pregnancy. To understand membrane remodeling process in diverse cellular and disease models we use arsenal of versatile molecular biology, cell-biology, biophysical and biochemistry tools.
