Dr. Manish K Singh has obtained his graduation and post-graduation degree from the King George's Medical University, Lucknow. Following this, he worked as Senior Resident in the Department of Hematology, Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow. During this period he got a post-doctoral fellowship in Cancer Cytogenetics at Tata Medical Centre, Kolkata. During his fellowship, he was not only trained for the genetic diagnosis of different types of cancer but also learned the art of developing the techniques and strategies for cost-effective and sustainable genetic diagnostic workup of cancer patients.

After joining back SGPGIMS, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Hematology, he, along with the support of the Department and Institute, was instrumental in setting up one of its kind of Cancer Cytogenetic facility in the Department of Hematology, which is catering the diagnostic services across the spectrum of hematologic conditions. He is also helping the faculty and students, outside of his department and institute, in setting up the Cytogenetic Lab and carrying out related research work as well.

His present areas of interest include Cancer Genetics, specially pertaining to Myeloma& related disorders, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, and Inherited Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes.
