Dr. Kulwant Singh is an Associate Professor in the Stem Cell Research Centre, Department of Hematology, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow, India. He completed his master's degree in biotechnology from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi and Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. As a graduate student, He developed a solid skill sets in the area of protein biochemistry. After completing PhD, He joined the laboratory of Dr. Jeffrey Dilworth to pursue his postdoctoral studies in an effort to understand how signal transduction pathways, epigenetic modifiers, and tissue specific transcription factors co-ordinate and establish the gene expression program during skeletal muscle regeneration. At SGPGIMS, the research work in thelaboratory of Dr. Singh is focusedon understanding, how cell type specific transcription factors and epigenetic regulators works together to regulate stem cell lineage progression and how their dysfunctions lead to development of diseases. In addition, Dr. Singh's research group is also working in close collaboration with clinicians to develop indigenous CAR T cell therapy that will be safe, efficacious and affordable to Indian patients.
