Dr Anu Behari is a Professor, in the department of Surgical Gastroenterology at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute, Lucknow, India. She completed her undergraduate medical education at S P Medical College, Bikaner, Rajasthan with honours in Physiology, Pharmacology,Biochemistry, Ophthalmology and ENT. She did her postgraduation in General Surgery from S M S Medical college, Jaipur, Rajasthan, receiving the Sir Raghu Sinha award for best performance. She completed her training in Surgical Gastroenterology at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, and worked as a Senior Research Fellow in the department of Surgical Gastroenterology before joining as faculty. She has visited the departments of Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, New York, USA, MD Anderson Hospital, Texas, USA, Nagoya university hospital and Nagoya Dani Red Cross hospital, Japan for short term training.
Her research interests are in the areas of gallstone disease, gallbladder cancer, biliary diseases (especially post cholecystectomy bile duct strictures), portal hypertension, acute and chronic pancreatitis and patient safety.
