Prof Aditya Kapoor is currently working as Head, Dept of Cardiology at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SPGIMS). He has done his undergraduate medical training (MBBS) from University College of Medical Sciences, Delhi in 1986, post graduate training (MD Medicine) training from Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi in 1991 and super-specialization in Cardiology (DM) from Sanjay Gandhi PGIMS in 1995.
He further trained in Cardiac Electrophysiology in United Kingdom (under the Commonwealth Scholarship/fellowship Scheme (from Nov 1999-Oct 2000) at the St. George’s Hospital Medical School, London). Since his return from UK, he has been actively involved in the Electrophysiology and Radiofrequency ablation programme at SGPGIMS hospital making it a major center offering this facility to patients from the state and adjoining areas.
He was appointed as Director of Coronary Care at Fremantle Hospital in Australia (from Jan 2006-Jan 2007) where he worked mainly in the field of coronary interventions, and started radial interventions i.e. Coronary procedures done via the hand in the hospital.
He has also been instrumental in helping develop the programme of fetal echocardiography at SGPGIMS in collaboration, initially with the Genetics department, and subsequently also with the Department of Maternal and Reproductive Health.
Prof Kapoor has received numerous accolades for his service to the Cardiology Community and has nearly 240 publications and 50 book chapters to his credit.
