    i. Padma Shri, fourth highest Civilian Award of our country, received in an elegant function organized at the Rastrapati Bhawan, New Delhi on 9 May 2024, for his outstanding contribution.

    ii. Dr BC Roy National Award; Received from Honorable President of India Smt Pratibha Devisingh Patil on July 2, 2008.

    ii. Harold O Conn award by American Association for the study of Liver (AASLD) at the Annual meeting held in November, Boston, USA held in 2012.

    iii. ICMR Awards: ICMR is the highest medical body facilitating research in various medical fields in India and I have been awarded 4 times

    a. "Basanti Devi Amir Chand" by ICMR for the year 2009 for outstanding contribution in Hepatology

    b. "Amrut Modi Unichem" given by ICMR in 2007 for significant contribution in Portal hypertension

    c. "Shakuntala Amir Chand Award" given by ICMR for "Prognostic evaluation of early indicators in fulminant hepatic failure by multivariate analysis" in 1998.

    d. "Dr DV Datta Memorial Oration Award" for excellence in research in Liver Diseases in 1996.

    iv. "Olympus Mitra Endoscopy Award" by Indian Society of Gastroenterology for the year 2003 for promoting education in the field of endoscopy.

    v. "Young Investigators' Award" by 11th Asian-Pacific Association of Gastroenterology and 8th Asian-Pacific Society of Digestive Endoscopy at Hong Kong, in 2000.

    vi. "Hoechest Om Prakash Memorial Award" for outstanding contribution in Gastroenterology by Indian Society of Gastroenterology in 1997

    vii. "Young Investigators' Award" by Japanese Society of Gastroenterology 1996.

    viii. Searle Best Paper Award" was given for the best paper of the year 1995, entitled "Magnetic resonance spectroscopy in subclinical hepatic encephalopathy".

    ix. "Young Clinician Award" by World Congress of Gastroenterology, at Los Angeles, 1994.

    2. Important Honours

    i. International Society on Hepatic Encephalopathy and Nitrogen Metabolism (ISHEN)- The Society's origins date back to 1971, when a Working Group led by I. Szam, D. Muting and V. Brautigam organized an International Symposium on Ammonia Metabolism. Held in Budapest in May 1972, this first symposium featured Sir Hans Adolf Krebs' presentation of the newly discovered urea cycle. 17th ISHEN symposium was organized by Dr Radha Krishan Dhiman, President ISHEN, in New Delhi. This was a great honour to be President Elect, President and Past-President of this International Society.
